Stephanie Gilmore Becomes First-Ever Female Surfer To Grace The Cover Of TransWorld SURF

June 3, 2010 - PRLog -- For the first time in TransWorld SURF history, a female surfer is gracing the cover.  This year’s August issue will feature the most dominant women's surfer in the sport today, Stephanie Gilmore, 22-year-old Australian native and triple world champion on the Women's ASP World Tour (2007, 2008, 2009).  

The legendary Australian surf photographer Peter “Bosko” Boskovich, in Pacific Palms, NSW, photographed the cover shot about four hours north of Sydney, Australia.  When asked by TransWorld SURF staff how it feels to nab the cover, Stephanie Gilmore replied, “Feels fabulous! It’s definitely something that every surfer has on his or her dream list… wicked, thanks!”  

TransWorld SURF’s August issue not only features a woman on the cover, but also dives deeper into the perspectives of women who surf.  “This issue is more than just a superficial celebration of women’s surfing, it’s an authentic story told from the trenches of the action,” said Managing Editor Casey Koteen.  “It scrutinizes some of the stereotypes of women’s surfing, the challenges, the newfound sexiness, and where it’s all headed in the future.“
