MoreDo you plan on picking up a Nintendo Switch this holiday season, or are you holding off for the Switch 2?
By all accounts, the hybrid Nintendo Switch console has been a resounding success for the Japanese-based gaming giant. Across the three models of Switch -- the original, the Lite, and the OLED -- Nintendo has sold a whopping 146.04 million units and counting. The console is on track to potentially overtake the Sony PlayStation 2 and become the best-selling video game system in history. Of course, we've known for a while now that Nintendo's next-generation console is about ready to hit the market. After an intense hype cycle, the company has confirmed its plans to announce the successor to the Nintendo Switch during its fiscal year ending in March 2025. The Switch remains a compelling gaming platform with a massive catalog of software to choose from. This Black Friday, you can pick up the higher-end OLED Switch model for a $75 discount off the MSRP over at Best Buy and Target, which is an offer that's admittedly hard to resist. If you haven't picked up a Switch yet, are you planning
Do you pull out your phone to take pictures at the movies?
Despite the little PSAs at the beginning of every movie begging people to silence their phones, having your film-going disrupted by a phone screen is unfortunately a very common occurrence at the modern-day multiplex. While the occasional sneaky little text or notification might be annoying, most of us are able to tune these little disturbances out for the most part. However, there's a new trend emerging involving phones at movie theaters that is a lot harder to ignore: filming. Over the weekend, fans of the new film Wicked were eager to share their thoughts about it online, and many posted photos and videos of their favorite scenes that they took themselves during the movie. Backlash was swift against this behavior, but many argued that filming and taking pictures is now just a part of the experience. I will say that I saw this happen once at a holiday screening last year of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King at my local theater. The theater was packed, and the person n
Who really thinks a new Apple TV could easily upend the competition? Not me
I get what Eli Becht is trying to say in his rumor roundup, but I've owned streaming devices from all the major players. In my opinion, Roku is by far the best choice, especially if you're watching your wallet. It's way cheaper than Apple TV, supports pretty much every streaming app you could want, and doesn't lock you into Apple's ecosystem. Plus, Roku's interface is super easy to navigate, and the voice remote is awesome, making it simple to find what you're looking for just by speaking. Even if you're an Apple user like me, Roku is still great for anyone who just wants to stream their favorite shows without all the extra fuss or expense. What are your thoughts on this -- could a new Apple TV really blow Roku or even Amazon and Google out of the water?
